In this week’s episode we cover:
1. Why do I always get a hole when I pick up wrap and turn stitches on the short rows in the round? I have tried and tried to solve this problem but cannot seem to get it right!
Final Short Row in the round tutorial:

2. Hello! I always love your videos and I especially find all of your tutorials really helpful, and I find myself referring to them on a regular basis. That being said, I was looking at knitting your Winter Honey shawl and was wondering if you were going to put out a tutorial for the cabling in that pattern? I absolutely love it, but don't have much experience with cabling, and don't feel like there are many videos out there for the type of cable you've chosen for that shawl. As always, thank you so much for your videos and gorgeous knits!

3. hi andrea! my question is about the tubular bind off. i love the look of it, but i always struggle with how tight it is, which confuses me because the internet tells me it's a fairly stretchy bind off. i am swatching for my (second!) traveler crew. i love my first, but it's a squeeze to get the bound-off edge of the neck over my head every time i wear it, and i would LOVE to avoid this for my second. i already am super cautious to bind off as loosely as i can while still keeping the bind off edge neat, and i go up 1-2 needle sizes as well. i'm wondering if you have any other tips to try to get a more stretchy bind off edge? or, do you know of a more stretchy bind off that is equally invisible? do i just have a giant head and this is a me problem without a solution? please help!
4. Hey Andrea! I started spinning in March and I love it! You talk about loving a good 3 ply in episode 174, and I was wondering do you do a 3 ply with fractal spinning? How do you separate your braid for that? I want to try fractal spinning, but I also love a 3 ply to hide my inconsistencies, hope you have some advice.

5. Have knitted your Douglas Cardi and absolutely love ii and wear it almost 16 hours a day in the winter time. Am wanting to make another but would like make it in the round and steek it. Would this be possible? Any hiccups I'd need to be aware of? I absolutely need another Douglas Cardi in my life as this one will be thread bare in a year or two.

I love to add an extra "drop" to my drop shoulder sweaters by casting on stitches to the yoke at the divide. But before we can pick up and knit the sleeves, we need to seam up that wee bit of underarm! This is my favorite method to do just that. I hope you find it helpful! #knittingtutorial

About the participation curse.. I have only ever joined one KAL before and quickly realized that I struggle to work on a project when I fall behind the group. When I have to work on something (especially gift knits) to complete it in a certain timeframe, that is when I no longer want to work on a project. I can't handle expectation deadlines or my brain says "nope. not gonna do it" 😂
I really hate the feeling of a good book/series/movie ending and being like “NOTHING WILL EVER COMPARE!” But I also hate starting a new project and a big part of that for me, is swatching. I’ve learned to find my next project and start swatching before I finish sweater #1 to avoid the slump (and ensuing anxiety!)
New to your videos and designs. Thank you for newsletter treat. I have several patterns I will be enjoying.
Happy Birthday Andrea!! Thank you for filming a podcast on your birthday!! I hope you had a wonderful day!! 🎉🎉
Happy Birthday Andrea! 🎉
Happy birthday! And while this isn't very fun advice, I found that working my kitchener stitch on two needles really improves my tension. As annoying as it can be, I really recommend anybody else having this issue give the full two circular approach a try at least once.
Happy Birthday Andrea! My favorite stretchy bind off is the Hiya hiya Grandma’s Stretchy Bind Off
Congrsts🎉❤🎉
Hi, I was looking at your patternd and found a few. How do i select those with discount to start with. It dors not show which are discounted when using code. Just total discount. Thank you 🎉
Stay chatty, please.
I just can't do tubular bindoff so I was amazed to find His Hiya Grandma's stretchy bind off. It looks almost the same & is knitted - yayyyyyyyyyy! ua-cam.com/video/_6O6NyXoGes/v-deo.htmlsi=dnxnAyFQFTt-SW22
Happy Birthday xxx
This is so clear! Thank you!
Happy birthday Andrea! Thank you for the annual birthday sale, there are always a few I have an eye on to add to my growing DRK collection 💕🎉🎂
Happy birthday! I just tried the Icelandic bind off for the first time and I think it’s very stretchy, and looks especially great on garter stitch edges. I need to experiment with how it looks with ribbing but I think it should work well.
Hi Andrea, Happy Birthday! I love the cowl. I was just gifted 800 yards of 100% alpaca which appears to be worsted weight. I’m hesitating to use it as with without any other blend in it, I’m afraid whatever I make will stretch and lose shape. Do you have any suggestions as to what I could make with it? I’m just finishing a sleeve on your Throwback pullover. Love it! So appreciate your patterns, your knowledge and the time you take to share it all with us. Have a great day! 🎂
Happy birthday Honey, hope you have a lovely celebration. Many thanks for your entertaining videos xxx I have just jumped at the chance of buying Wool and honey from your shop.❤❤❤
I relate the participation curse to being a kid back at home and mum telling me to make my bed or do the dishes. I was all for it until I had to do it and then all the fun goes out of it haha
One more stretchy b8nd off is the icelandic bind off the twin for old norwegian (german) cast on. It has become go to but I have not yet done a tubular or or sewn bind off. 9n my l7st fornew skills.
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday! Thanks for the discount on your patterns.
Happy birthday 🎉
I love using EZ's sewn bind-off, especially for toe up socks. It looks like a long tail cast-on, it has fewer steps than the tubular bind-off and it doesn't flare. It's definitely worth trying. I like the tubular bind-off for 1x1 ribbing though. It's so pretty!
Happy belated birthday wishes! I clicked "like" and it showed 777, so I hope it's a "jackpot" for all of us! 😊
Happy Birthday Andrea! You look especially darling on your video today, and that’s saying a lot since I think you always look darling. Thank you so much for your videos, and demos/tutorials, designs/patterns, your sweet pleasant mannerisms, etc. BTWs my niece does musical ditties between thoughts very much like you. She also says “do d’do” (under her breath) after she backs into a parking space in her huge Range Rover, or finishes hand stitching a split seem in a favorite dog toy, etc. So freaking cute, even in her early 40’s. ❤
Can't wait to shop the sale! Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Andrea! Thank you for the fab discount..off to find some yummy patterns to knit. Enjoy your Birthday weekend. 🥳
Happy Birthday to you 🧁. I use the alternating cable bind off which I find to be stretchy and doesn’t require cutting a length of yarn as you can continue to knit from the ball, I understand from others that this bind off looks very similar to the tubular bind off. I love your podcast and how natural you are.
Happy birthday and thanks for the present for us. I like alternate cable cast off as an alternative to the tubular. Stretchy, easier, no sewing needle and looks very similar. I substitute it for tubular all the time. Just a suggestion.
Happy birthday fellow Leo! You got my attention with the stretchy buns off - my all time fav right now is a sewn 1x1 bind off all day long. ua-cam.com/video/UY0xEX7A6RQ/v-deo.html This tutorial by Purl Soho has been my go to for years, I always need a refresher on how to set up. It’s really easy and flows well and really seamlessly makes a beautiful edge.
Happy Birthday Andrea!🎂
Happy Birthday!! I scored tons of patterns! Thank you for all your creations, patterns and inspiration!
August ! is Gerry Garcia's Bday too!
Happy birthday! 🧶🎉🧶
Happy Birthday! I usually switch every SR to German short row to avoid pesky holes.
Thank you for this tutorial ❤. I am excited to learn to knit your shawl with the double brioche stitch! Do you have a tutorial for the half brioche stitch? Thanks 😊
Happy Birthday!!!!
Most happiest birthday to you! Thank you for the beauty, fun and encouragement all year round! You are such a gift to us all! 🎉❤
Happy Birthday! 🥳 Watching this as I work on my Traveler hoodie 💓
Happy birthday Andrea 🌱 from what I've understood, a sewn bind off is a general term that includes the tubular bind off. Another type of sewn bind off which is often misdescribed as *the* sewn bind off is the italian bind off, which is the exact same as a tubular bind off but without the two set up rows of double knitting. I have found that italian bind offs tend to have slightly more stretch for a lot of knitters because they don't have any 1 stitch float caused by the double knitting, so this could also help the person who asked that question 😊 Another type of sewn bind off that I really love is the half hitch bind off, which mimics exactly the long tail cast on and is veeeery stretchy. It has a tendency to flare out and be too stretchy so I usually go down a few needle sizes for the last row before doing it. It's like a kitchener but with only 2 steps that can be made in one go, it goes super fast and is much more subtle that a Jenny's surprinsingly bind off, for example. And it works for 2x2 ribbing without rearranging the stitches 😋 (Roxane Richardson has a very thorough tutorial on it). You probably knew a lot of that Andrea, but I thought this might help some people since it was not mentioned in this particular video 😊
Happy Happy Birthday! Have a wonderful B’day weekend!
🎉❤
Happy birthday! I use the ruke bind off and have found it easy and neat looking. Give it a whirl!
Happy Birthday, Andrea! ❤
Happy Birthday!🎉🎉🎉 Hope you had a great GF Brunch!
Happy, happy birthday, sweet lady! Wishing you a day full of smiles and hugs that last throughout your coming year! Thanks for bringing a smile to me every week! You always bless my day! ❤
Happy belated birthday!
Happy birthday 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Happy Birthday!!! I hope it was fabulous!!! Thanks for bet us all so much joy!!!
Happy Birthday Andrea!! 🎈 My daughter’s 40th birthday is today too! She loved Little Ponies and dinosaurs as a child, did you too?! lol Thank you for the great tips and the discount! Enjoy your birthday lunch and special day!
